NAOMI BURKHARDT

Naomi is a Provisional Psychologist in her final year of the Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Southern Queensland and sees children (6+) through to adults. She has gained clinical experience through placements at the UniSQ Psychology Clinic and the UQ Counselling Service, working with children, adolescents and adults across a range of presentations and life stages.

Naomi believes that everyone deserves a space where they feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported. She is passionate about helping people make sense of their experiences, better understand themselves and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and self-compassion. She strives to create a warm, approachable, and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel safe to explore difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences at a pace that feels right for them. Naomi believes that a strong therapeutic relationship provides the foundation for meaningful and lasting change.

Naomi has experience supporting clients experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, attachment-related concerns and challenges associated with life transitions. She has a particular interest in working with clients who find themselves caught in recurring relationship patterns, struggle with self-criticism or fears of rejection or feel stuck despite wanting things to change. She enjoys helping clients explore how these patterns may have developed over time, while empowering them with practical strategies to create healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

Naomi tailors therapy to each client’s individual needs, drawing on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, compassion-focused strategies and attachment-informed practice. She also has a growing interest in Schema Therapy and depth-oriented approaches, integrating practical skills with deeper exploration to support meaningful and lasting change.

Above all, Naomi hopes clients leave therapy with a greater understanding of themselves, increased confidence in their strengths and practical tools to navigate life’s challenges in ways that feel authentic and aligned with what matters most to them.

Outside of psychology, Naomi enjoys reading, spending time at the beach and making the most of quality time with her family.
