We are the practice where the client experience matters just as much as the therapeutic experience.
Valentia Health was founded in 2024 and was borne from very personal experience and the desire to do more. In 2020 I had postnatal depression and I couldn’t find a practice that felt really aligned with me. Yes, I got some help but the experience didn’t make me want to hang around after I felt like things were under control, even though I was a child of the 80s and 90s which generally means therapy is a necessity for us! So, when faced with the decision to figure out what to do next in my career, I decided to hang up my corporate boots and go all-in. I did a custom fit-out and opened the doors to Valentia Health in early of 2025.
I’ve always had a need to do more. More, to help society with the mental health crisis that exists. More, to do something with a social impact. More, to make mental health care accessible for everyone. More, to ensure that the space we created was one of acceptance, support and free from judgement for anyone who walked through our doors. More, to reduce the stigma around seeking help and working to be the best version of ourselves.
Valentia Health aims to be a place where you walk through our doors as a team member or a client and you breathe a sigh of relief that you’ve found the place where you belong. We don’t want to be clinical, we want to be a comfortable space where you can truly relax and get the most out of your therapy sessions. We know vulnerability is sometimes scary, but we also know that it’s essential in order to reflect, assess and grow.
Valentia is the Latin word for courage and bravery, and it’s something that I hope forms part of everyone’s journey; whether it was mine in taking the leap to start something based on a dream to do more, or yours in seeking psychology and counselling therapies to help you move forward from the place you’re in right now.
“Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness.” Brené Brown.
